This book is not an actual story, but it is different descriptions and narratives I have writen by describing a photo; while others are just thoughts that I write down when my emotions get too much, and I right them down as a way of coping. *Excerpt 1* It is engraved into her mind, her heart, her soul, engraved like the sentimental words upon a marble gravestone, the chipped words pour out all of her emotions, playing them like a film. A film of determination, forcing her to watch, the hands of time holding her face sternly, adamant on forcing her suffering. To feel the guilt she had just about managed to suppress for all these days. *Excerpt 2* And like a blustery storm, they came back at her in vengeance, audacity, incredulity;furious for being pushed back so violently sudden. Now she bares the consequences; not just physically, but also mentally. She was tired. She was tired of EVERYTHING. All the raging emotions took too much of a toll on her body. Magic, a source that once bloomed in the every changing world. Most use it to aid in their everyday life or to help one another if able as though brothers in arms. Though with such power comes those who wished to seek it out, to use it for selfish gain and reason to match. Thus the ways to harness and learn of the power were sealed away from all. However the locks guarding the artefacts soon broke and they spread across the land waiting to be found by individuals whether their intentions be noble or selfish, good or evil. Though the most important rule of this was taught to each new iteration; "Power without control is it's own corruption."

Something lies hidden under the sands in the Middle East, a secret so fraught with consequences and the fear of the tumult its discovery will provoke that it cannot be named. It is for this reason the British government has assembled a team to unearth it before any of the other parties searching for it can discover it. Included among its members are David and Clare Hutchings. Ostensibly, they are participating in an archeological investigation in northern Iraq, at a newly discovered site, purportedly the ancient ruins of the fortress of Dara Akrata, an outpost of the growing might of Alexander the Great lost both to time and the unrelenting desert sands. Not only are David and Clare left uninformed of what they are searching for but of whom else among the broader British contingent are included in this secret operation. They have nothing to go on nor any idea on where to begin. David considers the entire situation absurd and believes failure is the only logical outcome. "To leave everyone in the figurative dark and essentially hold to a spurious kind of wishful thinking that those given only part of the details will somehow miraculously stumble upon the answer, it seems only more and more ludicrous. Yet even before traveling to Iraq, a death has occurred. And more ensue within weeks of arriving at the site: each ghastly, brutal, and undeniably cruel. The means by which they occur and the reasons underlying them are as nettled and confusing as the mystery associated with the objective itself, with the few clues available as sparse as rain in the desert. Even as David and Clare conclude they can trust no one, the danger becomes personal. Clare fears that David's life may be forfeit before all comes to an end. Yet, in that fear, lies the solution.
