For my creative writing project, I have decided to write a fictional novella titled Après Moi le Déluge which is a French phrase meaning, 'after me comes the flood.' It comes from King Louis XV of France, warning that after him, everything as they knew it would fall and crash but it would not matter for him because he would be gone. I knew as soon as I heard it, that it had to be the title of this story, which is ultimately about the crashing and rebuilding of life, like a wave in a flood. The story is told in the perspective of a girl named Scarlett who is at the age where she has to make decisions about her life all while she has no sense of direction. She had just experienced major heart break, or so she thought, and moves away from her family and everyone she knew to San Francisco for college. There, she studies art history and works as an intern at a fine arts museum. Her favorite form of art is French Impressionism, this is important because this is the exact section of the museum where she meets Marc, her main love interest in the story, she believes this is fate. Scarlett and Marc quickly fall for each other and it is nothing like she has ever experienced before. The story explores a lot of topics such as false heartbreak, finding yourself, and chasing after things that are uncertain. I wrote this because despite it being fictional, I feel like a part of me, my dreams, and my own experiences were definitely included in the making of this story. The chapters are dated but only by month and day, so that the reader can decide which year they want it to take place in or which they feel it best fits.

"Would you say you're close with Spider-Man, Peter?" MJ mused. There was a mischievous glint to her eyes that made Flash wary. "Good friends and whatnot? Known each other for a couple years now?" "I guess so," Peter admitted after a pause, giving the group an awkward smile. "I mean, I don't-know him personally, really. Because of his... secret identity. And stuff." "You talk with him regularly?" MJ offered, and Peter shrugged. "By superhero standards, sure." A smirk slid onto MJ's lips. "Then you could arrange for him and Flash to meet up, right?" (A Spideyflash sequel to There's a Fine, Fine Line. Let the identity shenanigans, italicized "oh," and Flash appreciation commence!)

Round 2 Qualifier The Ambys 2025 | The Melody of Memory: Poems Between Art and Nature What happens when memory becomes the bridge between artistic creation and the natural world? The Melody of Memory: Poems Between Art and Nature is a complete 30-poem collection born from National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo), where each piece responds to prompts weaving together art and nature themes. This is a journey through the connections between what we create and the natural world that moves us. The Collection The opening poem, "Undomesticated Forms," introduces "biomorph"-organic, life-suggesting shapes in abstract art. Drawing from the CoBrA movement's resistance to capitalist art production, these poems explore how memory guides us through spaces where art meets nature. From the Getty Museum's Florentine Codex to the rhythms of rain and wind, the poems traverse where human artistry meets natural wonder. They remember. They celebrate. They connect. Thirty poems exploring: - Fluid boundaries between artistic expression and natural phenomena - Memory as connective tissue linking creativity to organic inspiration - Rhythm and melody in both art forms and natural cycles. A voice that: - Weaves thoughtful curiosity with organic, sensory experience - Employs contemplative first-person narration with measured free verse - Discovers unexpected melodies in cultural artefacts and natural phenomena. From "Whispers to Chronos" to "Melodies of Melancholy," each poem traces the melody of memory connecting artistic creation to natural wonder. The Melody of Memory takes these daily prompts and turns them into something deeper - a month-long conversation about how art and nature speak to each other, and how both become part of the stories we carry with us.
