Driven by hope and the weight of the family secret, he embarks on a perilous journey across the Sahara and the Mediterranean. From surviving the brutality of human traffickers to facing the ruthless Italian Mafia, Anas's path is one of survival and transformation. For my creative writing project, I have decided to write a fictional novella titled Après Moi le Déluge which is a French phrase meaning, 'after me comes the flood.' It comes from King Louis XV of France, warning that after him, everything as they knew it would fall and crash but it would not matter for him because he would be gone. I knew as soon as I heard it, that it had to be the title of this story, which is ultimately about the crashing and rebuilding of life, like a wave in a flood. The story is told in the perspective of a girl named Scarlett who is at the age where she has to make decisions about her life all while she has no sense of direction. She had just experienced major heart break, or so she thought, and moves away from her family and everyone she knew to San Francisco for college. There, she studies art history and works as an intern at a fine arts museum. Her favorite form of art is French Impressionism, this is important because this is the exact section of the museum where she meets Marc, her main love interest in the story, she believes this is fate. Scarlett and Marc quickly fall for each other and it is nothing like she has ever experienced before. The story explores a lot of topics such as false heartbreak, finding yourself, and chasing after things that are uncertain. I wrote this because despite it being fictional, I feel like a part of me, my dreams, and my own experiences were definitely included in the making of this story. The chapters are dated but only by month and day, so that the reader can decide which year they want it to take place in or which they feel it best fits.

"Would you say you're close with Spider-Man, Peter?" MJ mused. There was a mischievous glint to her eyes that made Flash wary. "Good friends and whatnot? Known each other for a couple years now?" "I guess so," Peter admitted after a pause, giving the group an awkward smile. "I mean, I don't-know him personally, really. Because of his... secret identity. And stuff." "You talk with him regularly?" MJ offered, and Peter shrugged. "By superhero standards, sure." A smirk slid onto MJ's lips. "Then you could arrange for him and Flash to meet up, right?" (A Spideyflash sequel to There's a Fine, Fine Line. Let the identity shenanigans, italicized "oh," and Flash appreciation commence!)

Aided by artworks, this is my dive into the truth of World History through the lens of an American. It is a tide....a rising tide. I will interweave history with who I am as a person. I will NOT cover religion as I do not know everything (except when it comes to art but I'm not touching religion. Leave that to those who look into that. Each chapter will either be creative nonfiction OR historical fact. Cover Page is NOT mine. I am using it under fair use. ©Phantommaster12
