He uses his mist to look like his sky while his sky looks like him. He knew he would die before allowing anyone else to hurt tsuna. Although he knew that he might die today, at least he knew tsuna, his sky will not be dead. Despite knowing this, he couldn't help but feel abit sad, he was gonna break their promise. The other guardians show up to stop their sky from being killed, it was kinda already too late since he was shot in front of them. Only to find out that it was mukuro using his mist to protect their sky. The mist was dying, they knew that. But he was saying his last words when primo shows up. He gives them a chance to change everything and not allow their other mist to die and finally expect their sky. If they didn't take it their rings will reject them and tsuna might just begin to hate his guardians. He only had mukuro and now has no one.
