He thought he would be happier than he has ever been in his life after becoming Pokémon Master, and that was the case after the first few months, but as time went by the title became duller and duller. As Ash's group adventures to Ambrette town for a quick pit stop, they eventually go to see the Ambrette Aquarium to look at all the different water-type pokémon they have. But they're not the only ones there admiring the pokémon, it's none other than the Cerulean city gym leader Misty, Ash's longest friend. Note: this is my first time writing a fanfic, so it might not be as good as you hoped. Some characters appear out of character but you'll see it'll tie in with how the story goes.

Misty Waterflower is a 17 year old girl who is living the hard life in Sinnoh. Her mom is dead, her dad is always sick, and her sisters can't seem to hold down a job. When her choir decides to travel to Kanto for a singing competition, Misty goes with them. She's always wanted to go to Kanto where her mom died. After the competition is over, she decides to stay there in Kanto and work to send money back home to her family. But her visa is going to expire soon and if she doesn't get a new one, she'll be deported back to Sinnoh and banned from ever coming to Kanto again before she can find her moms grave. Ash Ketchum, a 17 year old boy living in Kanto, doesn't have it any better. He is running out of money and if he doesn't think of something fast, he won't be able to send money for his cousins school. His Aunt Johanna has the solution but they aren't gonna like it. They have to get married so they each get what they need. Shes got money and he has the visa This is gonna be tough

But I think it's kinda the Pokemon company's fault of making too much characters and one-sided crushes, they should make some kind of special episode to show the real canon ship.
