Eleven-year-old June Kao finds her daily life scary and confusing. Her parents made it clear that the Chinese ideal of obeying her elders was the only way for her to grow up safely. Her mother's prejudice against a new family in the neighborhood, however, directly contradicts the multiculturalism embraced by June's classes at school and the choir she sings in outside her home. The humor and personal experiences shared through these last two environments help June realize the errors in her parents' thinking. But it may not be enough to keep her safe. When June's mother falls ill and refuses to see a doctor as a result of her prejudice, she puts her own life in jeopardy. June must make sense of everything she's learned outside her home and find a way to overturn her mom's mindset, before it's too late.

Celie's whole world is music, yet she often feels like it is burying her. Gone is her love for the sweeping crescendos, the shimmering piano keys, as her taskmaster mother insists that she attends and wins competition after competition. It's a story about one American high society girl being threatened to be mudered by some unfriendly person's of her father. So her father decided to improve her security system but it became suffocating for her. After a long search her father got a guy who was a great martial artist. He kept him as her bodyguard. He was a handsome masculine Asian guy and she was a beautiful popular American girl. So they had a great difficulty of understanding each other but their heart couldn't see it .

Some prose personal to me. This was a final project for one of my undergrad English classes, and someone told me I should share it online, so here it is. I was particularly inspired by Ocean Vuong's On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous. A while ago I wrote a bunch of letters to my exes with no intention of ever sending them. Yet...one day in my mailbox I uncovered one answer after the other.
