An alternative ending to A Sliver of Stardust

Jack Horner finds himself more desperate than usual. AU of an AU???? I don't know man, but this is a prologue to @Hootowlsonly's "Crossover Insanity", in which Jack and her character Jesse are different versions of the same guy. What could possibly go wrong?

Aiken Hockaday feels like an outsider. Raised by one of the greatest Magicians in the Two Worlds and overshadowed by his sister, who can command storms, Aiken can see magic but can never use it. He feels like he doesn't truly belong anywhere. When nightmares of the lost land of Vita begin to plague him, Aiken decides to find his way to the legendary place of history and fable. Wren Matthews is just about ready to go home. They had been at Nod for months now. Sure it was a lovely place full of lovely people, but she was starting to get homesick. Many of the Magicians were weary of helping them get back home, even after all the things Wren and her friends had done to help them. But then they start to hear stories about a mysterious Magician, one who never wanted to leave Earth. Maybe if they can find him, they could just be able to get back home. (Cover by @Shy_Shadow)

It starts out as just a regular sleepless night for Jesse MacConnell, doing what he always does when he can't sleep. But when his nightly routine is interrupted by a strangely familiar guest, things start to take a turn for the interesting pretty quickly. A little oneshot I wrote for a crossover between my characters' universe and @Scrobbly's version of the Sliver of Stardust universe, in which the same guy meets himself from an alternate timeline. AU partly inspired by the fanfic Familiar Strangers here on Wattpad. I'll take the time to make a better cover later.
