In the days following of the death of River's grandfather, Riley Jones, she ventures upstairs to the attic of her childhood home, and what she finds is not what ever could have anticipated. It's impossible. She discovers a journal written by her grandfather entailing his exploits as a time traveler in the employ of a secret agency. Her grandfather really hadn't expected her to not investigate what he had truly been doing all those years, did he? She didn't think so either. First in the River's Tales Series.

In this second installment of River's story, she is finally given her own journal and astrolabe by Director Spader of the Tempus Temporis Organization. Now an agent in her own right, River and her new partner are kidnapped in an attempt to diffuse the conflict between the Delegation of Five, an ancient peacekeeping agency, and the Reppeptora, a violent species invading territory not their own. The only question is, will she make it out alive?
