Embers is about Destine Whiston, who is believed by the Ataxia Underground to be the one to save them all. Barely starting high school and has a hot temper, she just wants to go about her life. But the differences in her DNA are what keep her from achieving her dreams. She can't decide if she wants to join her kind and help them become equals among society or be a normal high school girl. The Traitor is about a small girl named A2, or what she has named herself, Johnnay. She grew up in a horrible facility that experiments on ataxias and is under the rule of the ruthless Jonathan Radcliffe. But things start to turn up after she's recruited to a spy mission on facility 26. When she meets a girl called Destine, she wants to be called Des, her whole life changes. Suddenly all she wants is to spend time with her. But she knows deep inside she has to betray her best friend...
