However, these "Shadow Games" soon erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world, that is until a brave and powerful young pharaoh locked the magic away, imprisoning it within the seven mystical Millennium Items. Many millennia later in the 1960s, Solomon Moto has retrieved the Millennium Pendant, now called the Millennium Puzzle, from the Tomb of the Nameless Pharaoh. Over the years, however, no one has been able to assemble the puzzle. That is until Solomon's grandson, Yugi, finds the puzzle in the family game shop and spends eight years trying to solve it. Now that he's solved it, his adventure has begun. After 5,000 years, the powers of the Millennium Puzzle have been unlocked, and the wheel of fate has begun to turn!
