Park Jimin has always been Rank One.
Until Jeon Jeongguk walks into Haneul University's Honors College and takes everything Jimin thought he knew about excellence, competition, and himself, and turns it upside down.
One believes in preparation.
The other believes in instinct.
One follows the rules.
The other questions them.
They were never supposed to get along
They were supposed to compete.
But in the midst of it, they become something neither of them planned for.
OR:
"Jeongguk-ssi."
The low, polite voice carried smoothly through the quiet room.
"You forgot your syllabus," Jimin said softly.
Jeongguk glanced down at the paper in Jimin's hand. He didn't reach for it. He didn't look flustered, nor did he apologize for his carelessness.
Instead, a tiny, almost imperceptible tilt appeared at the corner of Jeongguk's mouth.
"I didn't," Jeongguk replied smoothly.
Before Jimin could process the brief answer, Jeongguk raised his right hand from his hoodie pocket and lightly tapped two fingers against the side of his temple.
"I memorized it."
Jimin's breath hitched in his throat.
Jeongguk dropped his hand back into his pocket, turned back toward the exit, and continued walking. His long, easy stride carried him past the heavy mahogany doors and out into the bright, marble-lined corridor of the Honors Building without a single backward glance.
