Markus is a closeted gay christian who goes to a church that actively tells people that being gay is a sin. And then Markus falls for a guy named Derick and struggles with his sexuality and in his walk with God and knowing him deeper he starts to realize that maybe just being gay and it being a sin is actually more complicated then the church said it was and he thought it initially was. And maybe God wasn't a hateful benevolent God who judged from afar but was someone who loved and cared about him and wanted him to be happy.

"the sky is all-knowing and... you seem to be that way." it explains its response, again, as the mortal hums in acknowledgement.
