They say the hardest battles are the ones fought for alone. That's a lie. The hardest battle is realizing you've gone from needing a hero to survive the day, to finally owning the quiet, terrifying strength it takes to build a future that is not just yours, but ours. We had our ambitions: his on the pitch, mine in the track. We had our timeline, drawn up neatly and logically, ready for the world of grown-ups. But the world laughs at timelines. It laughs when a simple twist of fate changes the whole equation. The craving had been intoxicating. The needing was a lifeline. But this? This was undeniably, completely, mine.

First day. New school. Fresh start. No one here knows me, which is honestly kind of perfect. Like... I can just exist without people already having an opinion. No awkward memories following me around, no expectations, just me, figuring things out as I go. Switching schools right before high school should feel scary, but it doesn't. Not really. Especially because my childhood best friend is here. And through them, I somehow end up in this whole friend group that's loud and chaotic and actually really fun. It's the kind of group where people talk over each other, laugh at stupid things, and somehow make everything feel less overwhelming. And for once, I'm not trying too hard. I'm just... there.
