Umeko was an Air-Bender, born a century after the extinction of the Air Nomads and courtesy to the Fire Nation...The same Nation Umeko was born into, and the same Nation Umeko fought for in the war. But it didn't matter that Umeko was Fire Nation as an Air-bender, and also was a Lieutenant in the army, because if she told naught a soul, then nothing would ever happen. It didn't matter that the overwhelming urge to just twirl a little bit of air consumed almost every waking thought of Umeko's day. It didn't matter that were hunting the Avatar -and air bender originally himself with none other than the Prince of the Fire Nation. And it didn't matter that the infamous Dragon to the West was also on board. And it didn't matter that Prince Zuko was strangely good looking...wait -what? Kaida's life was a messy one. She had to take care of her mother who was practically a hollow shell after the loss of her husband, which also left her with the responsibility of her little brother who had just barely entered the world, and she knew next to nothing about firebending thanks to the traditions set for women in her time and her father leaving this world too soon to be able to teach his daughter. But in all the chaos, there was a place of peace for Kaida. Any time she felt stressed, Aang always knew how to cheer her up. They'd known each other since they were children, so they always treated each other like family. He was the only normalcy she had anymore. But then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Now, she was one hundred years in the future. Everyone she knew was long gone, war had overtaken the world, and now, it was suddenly disgraceful to have parents from two different nations- especially if one is from the Fire Nation. As if Kaida's world hadn't already been flipped around enough...
