Watching Bakugou die in the war leaves Deku traumatized. He continues to have nightmares about it for weeks even after Bakugou makes a full recovery, causing him to become far more clingy than he ever has been. Although they have become closer after their reconciliation, Bakugou is still apprehensive about Deku getting close to him. He isn't accustomed to affection and doesn't know how to receive it. Deku is breaking his barriers and the thought of it leaves him powerless. Or Deku pushes Bakugou's boundaries, getting too close. Reluctantly Bakugou tries to take this as an opportunity to make amends for the way he treated Deku growing up but it's hard to kick old habits.
