Empathy that unites is the profound and authentic diary of a mother who navigates the mystery of autism and the delicate power of hypersensitivity. With simple words filled with love, Gheorgas Gael recounts her journey alongside her son Thomas, a sweet and special autistic boy who communicates with his heart even before his voice. Page after page, this book weaves together intimate reflections, everyday experiences, moments of fragility and precious insights that can touch anyone who cares about the value of listening, kindness and respect for differences. It is not just a testimony: it is an invitation to look with new eyes, to feel more deeply, to educate with empathy. Suitable for parents, teachers, educators and anyone who wants to understand autism and hypersensitivity not as limitations, but as a way to bring them closer to more authentic relationships. 'Every human being has a voice. Even those who do not speak. You just need to know how to listen with your heart'.

Patricia is trying. That's it. She's just trying, at everything, all the time. Trying to succeed at schoolwork despite being pretty average, intelligence-wise. Trying to maintain her friendships despite always being busy. Trying to keep the flat neat, since her dad's always working and her mum's busy with a million and one other things. Trying to make time to see a boyfriend who, what with all the other things she has to do, is quite frankly barely on her radar at this point. And especially trying to learn to love the little sister always foisted on her- trying to love her unconditionally, without imagining if she was different, or, more to the point, not different at all. Rosemary is muddling through life as best she can- which is not terribly well. Schoolwork isn't a problem, as none of her teachers have ever expected any kind of academic output from her. Friendships are difficult, because no matter how much she tries she can't seem to form any. Her one (self-assigned) chore is to keep all of her toys neat, clean, and orderly. Her biggest problem is family- she always finds herself struggling to please but not quite sure how to. Neither Rosemary nor Patricia are a big fan of change. But change is inevitable, and when Rosemary is sent away from home for a week, their dynamic shifts. Patricia is no longer the centre of Rosemary's universe, and Patricia is no longer willing to sacrifice her life for her sister's sake. But as Patricia loses her sister's trust, and Rosemary seems to get more wildly out of control, they have to decide what in their lives they hold dearest. Is Patricia ready to make a choice between her carefully cultivated image and her beloved nightmare of a sister? Is Rosemary able to avoid choosing between her family and the only person who she's ever understood?

In Breaking the Chains: A Story of Autism Acceptance, two close friends, Emma and Jake, reflect on society's perceptions of autism as they sit by a serene lake in their small town. Emma shares her struggles with being misunderstood and confined by societal norms, while Jake offers unwavering support and understanding. Together, they discuss neurodiversity, acceptance, and breaking the stigma around autism. Through empathy, love, and mutual respect, the friends envision a future where differences are celebrated, and every individual finds their place.

Curious about autism? This resource for writers talks about what autism is and how to write an autistic character. Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental disability that affects around 1 in 59 people. Every autistic person is different. Most autistic people typically experience some or all of the common autistic traits, which include developmental delays, difficulty mind-reading, sensory issues, need for routine, stimming, and difficulty understanding and coping with emotions. This resource is intended to be autistic-friendly. This is a space for good-faith learning and positivity. It is OK to have questions and to not know things. People commenting in bad faith will be blocked, and possibly reported. (Please do not try to debate mean people.)

I got late diagnosed at 21. Since I found out I'm autistic I've been researching a lot about it and Autism became my Special Interest. There's still a lot of misinformation, but I also discovered many interesting things people don't know about. So I decided to write to spread more knowledge and acceptance. I'll be writing about the Autism Spectrum and also other subjects that relate to mental health and how autism shapes the way I see the world. And that's the Tea, sis (I prefer to write in english, but all chapters will also be availiable in portuguese in the story "Chá com TEA". Chá means tea in portuguese, TEA being ASD. And, as I love puns, I just couldn't help but unite the two stories this way)

A collaborative work by me & a friend If you're autistic and looking to be an outspoken and active supporter for your community, please feel free to read this. I hope that you may draw strength and empowerment from its' words and honor it until the very end. I've been a fan of Epic The Musical ever since I learned about it. And when I heard the song "Warrior Of The Mind", I was immediately drawn to it. Even now it's my go to song. Recently, I decided to take it as a term of empowerment, connected to my status as an Autistic Individual. For a while, the base form answer to it was this; "An outspoken and actively supportive member of the Neurodivergent Community". But to be honest, I wanted it to mean more. I thought back to what the 10th Doctor said a Time Lord was; "A sum of knowledge, a code, a shared history, a shared suffering". When I considered that, the only thing left needed for the concept of a "Warrior Of The Mind" was a code. And thanks to a friend on Reddit, a code was finally made. My greatest wish is for other generations of Autistic Individuals to pass this on to others in the future. It never hurts for a community to have a source of strength, which is why this was made. Here's hoping whoever reads this gets inspired. Stand strong, my fellow Neurodivergents! Nothing about us without us!

6 Parts Piece for Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month 2020 titled "A Female on the Spectrum: The Differences That Make Autism; More a Superpower than a Disability" National Autism Awareness/Acceptance Month is April. 2020 theme is celebrating differences. So I used that as inspiration to come up with the title of this year's piece. All the quotes are labeled by who said them to best of my abilities and all photographs were taken by me. This is the fourth year that I have done something for Autism Awareness Month. But more people on the spectrum are doing more things to make sure April is Autism Acceptance Month. There is so many reason why I actually make sure to share my story and definitely with what is going on in the world, we all could use some more understanding kindness, and love for way we are. "She did not change. She just found the courage to stop being what she was not."-Brooke Hampton
