Lyra loves balloons. They also terrify her. Working at Party Palace has always been a careful balance - colour, creativity, and control. A way to stay close to the thing that scares her without letting it take over. With her boyfriend Jay steady at her side and a job she's grown into, Lyra's life finally feels manageable. Then Ballooniverse opens. Run by the charismatic and unsettling Celeste Bloom, the new shop promises bigger displays, bigger opportunities - and a kind of confidence Lyra doesn't trust. Celeste knows Lyra's name before she ever introduces herself. She watches too closely. Pushes too far. And seems far too fascinated by Lyra's fear. As pressure builds and old anxieties surface, Lyra is forced to confront questions she's spent a lifetime avoiding: Where does fascination end and fear begin? Who gets to decide what "growth" looks like? And when someone insists they know your potential better than you do - how do you hold onto yourself? Pop Song: Volume Two is a quiet psychological coming-of-age story about autistic identity, bodily intuition, and the danger of mistaking control for empowerment. It's about learning that not everything loud is brave - and that safety, sometimes, is the bravest choice of all.

My dissertation was rated a 1:1 an it's especially helpful to read if you identify as female and have a hard time trying to get loved ones and friends to believe you have autism. That's actually a fundamental basis of my research. I knew from 12 but didn't get diagnosed until 17 because of those unfortunate social biases. I'm sharing this because I needed this when I was growing up and by "this" I mean something that is not too hard to digest, but accurate and educational, because sometimes understanding is all you need to stay afloat. My original story's title "I won't force you to love me" is kind of confrontational, so it should be interpreted as "I will not be a different person from the one I am, just to gain your approval". There are many more insights that might be added to the end, which couldn't fit in the 10-12k word limit. I'm just so excited to finally share it all, since I'm finally passed the assessment phase.

Pharma giant Goldenrod has closed every last skatepark in Montreal-and local skater gal Lulu is on the case! During her investigation of the conspiracy she suspects, she quite literally falls down a rabbit hole into a bizarre secret kept by Goldenrod's old nemesis: Sanctuary 17223, a research facility run by the AI doll Alvin, currently trapped in its own reality-breaking simulation technology. After freeing Alvin and accidentally wiping his database, Lulu teams up with him-or rather, becomes the User he is programmed to serve-to uncover the full story. Their first discovery, however, is that Lulu was onto something and is now being accused of a crime she (mostly) didn't commit. Stuck inside the Sanctuary, will she find a way to ethically kiss the sentient object of questionable origin- uh, reclaim her freedom? sanctuary17223.com

Ava Graham, an autistic teenager with a passion for dragons, fantasy, and "The Elderscrolls V: Skyrim." Lilly Miller, Ava's best friend since childhood, who has a love for the outdoors and a habit of getting high to take the edge off things. (Not that her overbearing- let's use that word- mother cares, or knows) Since middle school, Lilly has had a not-so-small crush on Ava, a crush that Ava herself is oblivious to. Though one thing leads to another, a Christmas party is had, and Ava experiences one of the strangest parts of life, something that's never really crossed her mind: love and what it's like to fall in it. But she doesn't rush anything, she's never been the type to rush. Through the good days and the bad, through sunshine and rainy days, she takes everything one day at a time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -I do not own any form of media, such as games or songs, that are referenced in this story. Those belong to their respective owners. -This book was written by a queer, autistic author :) Originally written in the Spring of 2022, then released the following Summer, I wrote this story at one of my lowest points in life, but have since reached a much happier place. I wrote this revised version with the utmost love for the lost, lonesome teenager who originally drafted it, and for the adult who is coming back to it, having undergone so much growth in so many ways, and who is continuing to grow every day.
