PANS stands for Pediatric Acute Autoimmune Syndrome, the disease i was diagnosed with in April 2014 after a year of not knowing what was wrong. Researchers are only beginning to study and understand this syndrome, and therefore there are a lot of unanswered questions about what it is . What they do know is that abnornal antibodies in your blood start attacking your brain after having a strep infection, causing mental ilnesses symptoms. This is my story. I used a normal kid, barely missed any school, straight A's, a lot of friends, and yes I can say I actually was happy. I say "I used" because all that changed. 2 years, Depression, Suicidal thoughts, Anxiety, OCD, Hallucinations, Surgery and several hospital visits later, here I am telling my story. Because I live with an invisible illness. But hang on till the end because it all ends well. Well kind of.
