Fifteen-year-old Evelyn "Evie" Hart feels like she doesn't fit in. Diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and dysgraphia, commonly known as writing dyslexia and often involving difficulty with handwriting, spelling, and organising thoughts on paper, she is often perceived by others as "too much" or "not enough." Despite this, Evie aspires to be a psychologist and wants to understand people, even if they rarely understand her.
Set in a small working-class Australian town, Evie's story is one of resilience, alienation, and a determined pursuit of purpose. Life presents her with challenges, harsh truths, and heartbreaks, but with each storm she faces, she uncovers a part of herself. There is no fairytale ending, but there is hope, a hope that builds slowly through grit, loss, and quiet rebellion, expressed in the margins of her notebooks and screamed into pillows behind closed doors.
