Emery Clare’s life has just been thrown out of whack, following her parent’s divorce and her mother’s upcoming marriage to Seth Lamont, a wealthy, but awful, business man with an even more awful daughter, Avarie. But Emery’s life is thrown even more for a loop when she meets Jule Hetrick, an arrogant and handsome rich kid, at one of Avarie’s parties under strange circumstances. Once Jule’s worked his way into her life, she and him are forced to confront multiple problems, including Emery’s mother’s marriage, and Luke, Emery’s long time best friend who doesn’t like Jule one bit. Over the course of the year, Emery and Jule spend more and more time together, discovering secrets about themselves and everyone around them. Through their antics and Emery’s desire to put a halt on her mother’s wedding, it could be a shot in the dark to say their relationship might work at all.

The Best Mistake of her life was made through an unsuspecting time. Little Avery was born into this world and wasn't planned but because of Avery she helped her mom get her life together and actually have a motivation to do so. Even though Avery wasn't encouraging her purposely her little life gave much encouragement for Katie and that's really all Katie needed.
