She's known that since she was a child. She just didn't know quite how different she really was. She must seclude herself from everyone for reasons unknown to her. Never having any close friends as a child, she quickly became the object of bullying in her school. She grows up having to deal with her problems at school herself. But when Aven's family moves to the small town of Avalon, California, her world changes in ways she could never imagine. From a nosy bad boy constantly questioning her, to a jealous queen bee craving the attention that Aven receives upon her arrival, Aven's life will never be the same after her 15th birthday.

He looked at me with a weary look in his eyes. He opens his mouth to talk and even though it's forming words, no sound is coming out. I'm in a daze, but I decide to tune in for a few seconds. I hear, "Cancer," says Dr. Springfield in a hushed tone. He's standing close to the door, like when I receive the news, I'll go crazy. I don't though. "Wait, what?" I say while my eyes grow wide. Just as tears form.

A growing darkness has been born into the world once again. Aven Shayde and a fist of his friends move away to Abalon, a city full of mysterious history and forbidden legend. It is here he discovers a phenomenon within him from the help of an elderly spirit known as The Ancient, who informs him of a dangerous destiny. Only with the assistance of his peers can he stand a chance against the shadows that mean to destroy him and everything he holds close. Friendships are torn apart, lovers are pushed to their limits, and enemies rise from the most unlikely places as Aven learns that true darkness lies within everything. The world he knows will forever change as he deals with the struggles of love, hate, and life in this opening chapter of The Arcane Collective.

Not sure how this story will play out yet, I have the base of a plan, hardly anything to write a description for (Modern AU). Disclaimer: I do not own these characters (though I wish I did). All characters are from Lynette Noni's 'The Medoran Chronicles'. Fanfictions for this fandom are slim, I just finished reading it and am now mourning over the series.

17-year-old Aven is dealing with the loss of her parents as she moves and drops out of school to pursue her hobby of photography as she tries to cope with her new life alone. But she's not alone for long as she books a job being a photographer for a rising band that takes her under their wing as one of their own. But, will she open up and tell them everything she feels about herself and her past or will her secrets slowly be the end of her?
