After a group of teenagers discover strange words etched into the centuries old stone of a cave, horrifying creatures begin appearing near the quiet Japanese town of Ayashi. As more and more people wind up dead, it's up to the newly formed Ayashi Supernatural Investigations Department to use the seemingly magic words in the cave and whatever weapons they can find to protect Ayashi and get to the bottom of a mystery not limited to their world.
