As he lay dying, Kai placed the severed finger of an ancient sorcerer into Issei's hand, making it appear stolen before fleeing with Keiko to report him. Confused and fading, Issei could do nothing. Seeing a final chance, Ddraig took control of Issei's arm and forced the cursed finger into his mouth, making him swallow it to save his life. Dark energy surged... and everything went silent. When the eyes opened again, Issei Hyoudou was no longer there. The one who awakened was the King of Curses.
