The past is something that's supposed to be forgotten. Or in other words, it's not meant to be held onto. Sorrel tried to put her past behind her and has built a life that brings back some normalcy. But grief has a way of sneaking up, making the normal feel...wrong. It's been nearly nine years since her childhood best friend's death. Something she pushes down deep in her heart so it doesn't hold her back. Then she see him again. Aziel brings all those memories she tried to hide flooding back. It doesn't help he has grown and changed in ways she never expected. Sorrel realizes some wounds never heal. They don't hide forever.
