This is a "ballad" I wrote for a story I once read about Azra'il, the Angel of Death. As I remember it Azra'il is an Arch Angel responsible for the aspect of Death. During their duties Azra'il became aware there were human souls suffering in Hell that no longer deserved to be there. The rest of Heaven were not willing to listen to any ideas of redemption of damned souls, so Azra'il took it upon themselves to do something. Azra'il would travel into Hell and smuggle those worthy of redemption out. This went on for an unknown amount of time and Azra'il saved countless souls. Eventually these trips to Hell were discovered by Heaven and Azra'il was put on trial, for it was believed they were trying to free Lucifer and start another rebellion. Long story short, the truth was discovered and Azra'il was released. However the ordeal caused Azra'il to leave Heaven on their own accord, because it went that far only for nothing to change. Now Azra'il continues their mission of saving souls in need from the suffering of Hell.
