Some background on the LostSouls AU: In the LostSouls AU, When Asriel and Chara fused their SOULs and then died, a little more of Chara's SOUL persisted after her death. This allowed her to keep a larger fragment of her SOUL than the original UT!Chara; a seventh instead of an eighth. However this small change has made all the difference, because unlike the original, Frisk has only done a full reset twice. The first route was originally pacifist until Frisk was unable to beat Undyne. He reset, thinking that there were no good monsters and did the genocide route. Chara killed Sans and Asgore at the end...but was unable to kill Flowey, who she recognized as her brother Asriel. Because of this she killed frisk by summoning her first ever gaster blaster, forcing him to relaid to before the fight with Sans. Then Chara fought Frisk using magic, eventually getting him to reset and do the pacifist route. After the pacifist route, which happened after the last reset, Frisk's determination was somehow able to bring Azzy back from being a souless being and Chara from the dead. Chara and Asriel are the 'Lost Souls' that there AU mentions so much. Alphys, Chara, and Sans are trying to figure out how they were brought back so they can somehow replicate the process and bring back the six human SOULS, if they can find them.*

Asriel lived a normal life. Until him and his adopted sister went to the surface. Asriel got wounded and "died". He was turned into a flower and tried to kill Frisk (for like the 100,000th time,). He was saved from being a flower, being transformed back to normal. Only one problem... Asriel is turned back to the age he was when he was turned into a flower (9 years old). He has to relive life. Chara has gone genocide crazy, Frisk is Asriel's new adopted sibling. As Asriel turns into a teenager, he realizes things he didn't before.

Frisk and Asriel are now the rulers of the surface with the envious Chara riding their coattails, successors of their three murdered parents...Sans, Toriel, and Asgore. 20 years before the events of the story was when the barrier was shattered, the monsters were freed, and the Underground was evacuated. The humans went on high alert, causing Undyne, Papyrus, Sans, Asgore, Mettaton, Toriel, and the newly restored Gaster (Gaster sub-plot slightly changed as of now) to have to wage war on the surface. Long story short, Sans, Asgore, Mettaton, and Toriel were killed. Chara, Frisk, and Asriel used the DETERMINATION caused by their parents' deaths to fight back...they won. 20 years after the war, Frisk is the Queen of the Surface with King Asriel as her husband. Read what happens when the humans rebel and try to take back their rule of the surface.
