At 4 summers old Mahirimah and her grandmother Rashida witnessed the destruction of the Mayamarah desert nomads, their tribe and family. Left wandering in the desert Mahirimah and Rashida are abducted and forced to become slaves of a neighboring tribe. From then Mahirimah is forced to earn money by belly dancing for men in order to keep her grandmother from being killed. But to their misfortune a wealthy client takes special interest in Mahirimah and the other dancers, buying all of them from their abductors, including Rashida. Now as a slave appraised for her beautiful eyes, Mahirimah lives under the will of her buyer as he quickly finds out her grandmother is her weakness.
She was not meant to be caged in the walls of a city, nor meant to be the toy of cruel and ruthless men. In order to reach heaven it is accustomed Mayamarah nomads die in the desert as their ancient texts describe. Mahirimah’s only mission is to make sure she and her grandmother escape to live and die alone freely in the sand. And she will do anything to achieve it.
