"No,no,no,no,no,no..." I cried, with hot tears running down my face. "Please don't die, I won't let you die at my hand! I'm sorry I was too late..." I closed my eyes in grief.
Then, I saw under my eyelids, light. I opened them and saw the dark stone of the small gargoyle fade away. In wonder, I stared. The black specs flew upwards into the night sky as the fog seemed to clear away for the death of this gargoyle. What I saw was the most beautiful thing that could exist. An angel had replaced the once very repulsive gargoyle with this beautiful man. His face so beautiful there was no other way to describe it. His dark hair rustling with the phantom wind blowing his hair. His vibrant, tree green eyes that I could bet if you stared at them long enough, you could see your own future. But what really caught my eye where those beautiful, powerful dove-like wind peaking over his shoulders.
Thank you, he spoke into my mind.
I will repay you with the life I have left to give you. I will give you my most precious thing: my wings and my power. Treat them well Esteria. You will do great things.
The beautiful angel smiled at me with his beautiful lips and eyes and disintegrated into the soil.
I sat there kneeling trying to process what had just happened. I stood up and felt a new unfamiliar weight on my back. I went ahead and rubbed my back over my shoulder and to feel that it was not my clothes or my back, but the angel's majestic wings. Except these weren't normal white dove-like wings. No, these wings were meant for a queen because these...were wings of gold.
