Serena and Brinley are two of the five at risk teenage campers who travelled to the Badlands, South Dakota for a quick getaway with a counseling group three days before Christmas 2009. The worst snowstorm the Midwest has seen in years forces the group into a cave with limited supply of food and water. Three days go by and they are still trapped. As the park closes early on Christmas Eve, counselor Chelsea Sanders goes out seeking help and never returns. Christmas morning, Serena convinces fellow campmate Brinley to go searching for their counselor. Trekking through yards of ice, sleet, and snow, Serena realizes this Christmas might not bring its Christmas miracle that her heart longed for. This mystery story will send ripples through your spine and make you feel as though you are standing in the frozen Badlands along with the characters. Will the girls find Chelsea? We live in a world that is divided up of four lands the FarLands, the PromiseLands, the SorrowLands, and the worst Land of all The Badlands. Aspen is 16 years old and is fed up with her parents and how they live. See, she lives in the PromiseLands, they believe that everyone should live how they live. They're judging if one doesn't live the lifestyle they live. It was one night when she finally was fed up with the way they live. That's when she went off, she just screamed and yelled and let all of her emotions out at once. They went the whole week, and counting, without talking to her. One night, she got fed up of feeling like shit. She packed her stuff and left. Left her friends, her family, her life. She wanted to forget. So she got in her car and drove to the forgotten land. The place people want to forget, and the place people go to forget...

This city is disgusting; a corpse of what it used to be. The people are filthy, gluttonous, Ruled by the power exchange of sex from the hands of the proletariat to the bourgeoisie. The tops of the skylines buzz with the lackluster enthusiasm. The ground level is caked in dirt and rust and grime, and the people that dwell there awake and rub the filmy layer off their lukewarm eyes. There are some here I love, some who fear me, and some who wish I was dead. I didn't ask for this; no one asks for this. You're born into it. You grow up oblivious and sheltered and one day the evil realities of this place hit you square between the eyes like a perfectly aimed bullet.
