He no idea of Todoroki gender preference or his sexual orientation and he knew katsuki would never accept his feelings since their friendship was long over. Sexual orientation wasn't something he discussed freely since many citizens and several other judgmental hero's were against gay hero's it was kept don't ask didn't tell situation to protect the hero reputation and job that could be ruined by it.
