The Thread of Dunfermline: A Poetic Journey Through Lineage What connects a quiet, modern room to the blood-soaked battlefields of medieval Scotland? In The Thread of Dunfermline, I am sharing a deeply personal exploration of my own family history. This narrative poem in four parts details my real-life journey tracing names through dusty digital archives and old census records along my McDonald line. Suddenly, the centuries fell away to reveal a breathtaking, direct connection to royalty: King Robert the Bruce and his second wife, Elizabeth de Burgh. The poem travels back to a time of iron and ambition, capturing not just the king's fierce battles for a crown, but the deep human endurance of my own ancestral grandmother during her eight long years of English imprisonment. Moving from the grand, ruined flagstones of Dunfermline Abbey through centuries of hidden history, the narrative ultimately returns to the present. It serves as a striking reminder to my readers that the blood of kings, queens, and clansmen does not stay buried in the clay-it flows quietly on, living through the ordinary moments of my everyday life. - Gemma Shannon

This is a collection of dreams, memories and emotions. They are words brought up from the deep locked gates of my soul and moulded in words then shaped into poems. Written down during nights when I can't sleep, or at Midnight when I wake with a poem in my mind....♥️

In District 10, where the sun rises over endless fields and the air smells of hay and smoke, fifteen‑year‑old Wren Rose Lock lives a life split between two worlds. By day, she milks cows on her family's worn‑down dairy farm. By night, she steps onto the rickety stage of the Salty Seeder bar, guitar in hand, singing the old 'Covey' songs her grandmother taught her - songs full of ghosts, secrets, and warnings. Wren has always felt the past tugging at her like a half‑remembered melody. Her grandmother, Lucy Lock, carried stories she never told. Her father avoids questions about the family's history. And Wren herself bears a face that doesn't quite belong in District 10 - pale eyes, sharp features, and a voice that makes strangers stop and stare. With the Reaping only a week away, Wren wants nothing more than to keep her head down, keep singing, and keep her family's fragile world from falling apart.

Words can plant gardens or burn whole forests down. Poems are nothing but the manifestations of how one thinks about something mixed with extraordinary emotions. Her name is The doc. She plays with words daily and gets poems out of these . She writes because it makes her feel like someone's listening.
