I got the idea after reading Patriot's Dawn by Dr. Snakes MD. After killing his clan, Itachi arrives at Naruto's apartment to warn him about Akatsuki, using 'Kotoamatsukami' to make sure Naruto takes it seriously. The warning had a changing effect on Naruto as he decided that he didn't have time to waste time to appease people by becoming Hokage and getting them to acknowledge him, not when such dangerous missing nins were after his life. He decides on a new goal to become powerful enough that not even an organisation like Akatsuki will be a threat to him.
