"Oh it's a male! Tell me, is he cute?" "Oh my god Ty," Adam hit his arm, "Here's a thing to know about us gays. We don't fall for every guy that crosses our path. It's like how you'd view girls. Not every one of them is cute. Also, don't think we're all that girly. You see polish on my nails?" Tyler paused for a minute, then said, "So he is cute." "I didn't say that!" "But you implied it," Tyler ran a hand through his light brown hair as they walked out the baseball field together, "When you dodge a question, like the one I just asked, it usually means 'yes but I don't want to admit it'." •••• "Channing, do you like Adam?" Like. As in, romantic feelings. She didn't mean the brother way or the best friend way. She meant the "like like" way. Did he? Did Channing actually have feelings for Adam? It had been so long since the blond had had a crush on a boy that he almost forgot the feeling. The way he felt when Adam reached over and pushed his hair out of his face. It was almost unknown to the universe. Channing's stomach had turned into multiple knots and the butterflies couldn't escape. He remembered the feeling of his heart pounding against his rib cage, like it was trying to break out of jail. It felt... ...amazing. *Cover by @Halfblood_of_the_Sea **If you don't like LGBT+, depression, or strong language, then discretion is advised

A band trip to Amarillo, invited to play for and directed by a retired and amazing band director with the rest of your band members sounds amazing, right? Nothing could go wrong. Absolutely nothing. Not when the train is hijacked, not when people try and attack everyone else. No, nothing could ruin it. The cold weather that Mother Nature threw at us could take us all down. We were family, a band family, and nothing could take that away from us. Death nor hijackers, but maybe just finding out who everyone was in a life or death situation. Maybe that could change everyone, just maybe.... Warnings: Cursing (more will be added as this story progresses) This story was themed off of a band song made for a train chase during the early civil war. When listening to the recording, this story started to form and there, this magical story started. I will try my best to update this when I can, as I am having a bunch of fun with this. But I might also not have time to do a proper update for it. You all might never know. (This was also bloodier before I did a bigger change in the plot.)

We all have regrets. We all smile. We all frown. Sometimes all we need is an encouraging word from others or seeing that someone else is also going through pain to understand one's self. In this book which consist of poems, entries, and thoughts there are stones in which no one would consider to glance at but also sees a new way to treasure. This book is for those who are in need or curious. This is my atonement. How I write when I need. Now take a look--even if it were just a glance. Who knows? The words that follow may surprise you.

The flutes and french horns have joined forces against the trumpets. The tuba slept with a saxophone. Tenor saxophone quit. The bassoon is drinking. The percussion have broken the piano, much to the bassoons dismay. It's just another average year as a Cooperstown High School Band student. Cooperstown has never been beautiful. And I doubt it ever will be. Nothing about it really is. There's the Western Side, where all of the rich people live in their big houses and large yards and apple trees. There's the Slums, where all of the people wrecked by poverty and drugs live in their rundown apartments and clubs. There's downtown, where all of the people doing okay live, around St. Judas River and Jesus Street, and no one knows who named those two but they clearly didn't read the Bible. There's the schools. Cooperstown Elementary School, Middle School, and High School. The only ones we need to hear about are the ones in the Cooperstown High School Band. The ones with problems. The ones with issues. The ones who don't really think this world, in the town Cooperstown could even have the possibility to be beautiful. But then they find out that Cooperstown is losing funding, and the band will be cut out entirely. The Bassoon will have to become sober and give up owning cigarettes. The famed Trumpets and French Horn/Flute rivalry will have to come to an end. (But only with some Romeo and Juliet crap.) The Tuba and a Saxophone will have to work out the issues that come with sleeping together. The Seniors have exams. Dallas will have to get over his grief. Brianna must realize that what she wants is okay. Benny has unrequited love. Brooklyn has confusing love. All of them have issues. All of them have problems. All of them have trouble seeing the world as a beautiful place. But this year will change that. Because this year they have to band together to save the band. But t I refuse the lie--only like fifteen kids are actually doing anything.

Geeks, nerds, loners, the unpopular ones. Rarely is their side of the story told. The romantics of the other half has never been brought to the limelight. So I observed, and wrote. I wanted people to know about these unsung love stories. And I wanted them to be real. But this is just the fictional thoughts of one girl. A girl in blue converses.

"She’d been told everybody loved her. She’d been told everybody liked her. If this was true, why did she feel so isolated? Hatred and longing boiled up inside her chest, threatening to burst. It bubbled and hissed. She almost wished it would burn a hole right through her heart. Then maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t have to put up with it anymore. She wouldn’t cry. She wasn’t even sure if she could. She wanted to, but it hurt so bad all she could do was buckle her knees and collapse onto her bed, her gaze still focused on the mirror." (Please vote if you like!)

Drum set player Julia McCoy is not a typical marching band member. Forced to move across country and become a rookie as a junior, the newest tenor drummer deals with an intense Instructor, a cheerleader and the possibility of love in her own section. Told in engaging first person, Confessions of a Teenage Band Geek is not your typical YA story. Protagonist Julia McCoy's plans for an amazing junior year suddenly shift when her parents announce they are moving from SoCal to Atlanta, GA. Resilient and optimistic Julia launches herself into her new life and starts by joining the marching band. A talented drum set player, the blonde proves herself as an intense percussionist and is awarded a spot in the tenor section, a subsection of Westlake high school's competitive drumline. In addition, Julia joins a local rock band, Beans and Cornbread, and begins teaching drum set lessons. Events in the fast-paced novel work around band camp, Beans and Cornbread's first show, an 'impacting' first marching band competition, sneaky cheerleading exes and an exciting Homecoming week. Fans of Courtney Brandt's Line series will be happy to see cameos from previous characters make appearances. Cover artwork by Helen Heinig. © Copyright 2013 Courtney Brandt. All Rights Reserved.
