The long-delayed 2022-2023 Film Journal continues with the equally long-overdue forty-third entry, featuring "Barbie". Here, I take a detailed look at the highly unusual and one-of-a-kind experience that surrounds and defines this film that I had a very unexpected reaction to.

What happens when Barbie realizes she doesn't see Ken romantically? What happens when Oppenheimer realizes he's in love with a pink girlboss? Read to find out! (⚠️DISCLAIMER: I have not watched either movies! This is simply for fun and because I like the ship. Enjoy anyways!⚠️

A bubbly yet sassy Barbie befriends the intelligent but troubled Oppenheimer as he and his team are working on something that could change, or destroy the world. While these two aren't from the same towns, or even the same universe, they both aim to to discover, all the while navigating this new, odd little friendship that could change, or destroy both of their worlds. PLEASE READ: While the fic has historical events within it and talks about Oppenheimer, it isn't talking about the real life person, but rather, the Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer. This goes for any of the other character within the Oppenheimer film. I'm not writing this to disrespect the dead, I'm just trying to express my creativity while also practicing my writing skills. Also, I would also like to mention a few things: 1. that this fic will contain spoilers for both The Barbie and Oppenheimer Movie. If you haven't seen both films, please do, the story will not make sense if you haven't. 2. parts of the fic are lifted from the original scripts of both films with most of the text being modified to fit the story being told. All credit goes to Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan 3. the artwork for the fanfic for the most part is all drawn by me. If the art is made by someone else, I'll be sure to credit them in the author's notes when they show up in the chapter. When Ken discovers the seemingly magical power of nuclear energy, things don't go quite as planned. Innocent civilians are under nuclear threat, Barbieland is in crisis, and Ken begins to feel the weight of his responsibilities.

Closure isn't coming easy to Barbie after her evening with Oppenheimer. It's even more difficult when she meets Neil Lewis, a single dad who takes an interest in her-someone who's a little silly and incredibly considerate. But what's holding her back from committing to him completely when things start to go well? Barbie realizes that in order to move on with her future, she has to go back to the past. And that means having to confront why she's so hung up on this single night affair, including reaping the consequences of seeing Oppenheimer just after the end of the war.
