"i can't believe i got myself into this mess." For as long as she could remember, Gabby had always been sad. Why? She can't remember. She stopped smiling in photos when she was 9, stopped wanting to go on vacations when she was 10, and grew distant from her mother when she was 11. Now that she's 12, she's just kind of empty inside. It wasn't that her life was horrible, she just had this void inside of her that couldn't be filled. The only way that Gabby could temporarily forget about this void was through relationships. Ever since she had her first relationship in 5th grade, she longed to feel that happiness again, to feel that connection that seemed as if nothing could come between it. She wanted that feeling back. Though, her attempts to get a boyfriend in 6th grade failed. A lot of drama in her friend group surfaced, and she eventually though about giving up. At the end of the year, the guy she liked went ghost. Nobody was receiving any texts from him. Not even Gabby. When he returned, he revealed that he moved cities. She was furious. He had made a promise to her to stay by her side the whole year, and then he just left? It threw her off for weeks, even following her into her 7th grade year.
