When Basil goes out to tend to his garden one morning, he finds a boy with wings under his rose bush. Sunny has never been indebted to a human before, but when Basil tends to his wounds and offers him shelter, he's left with little choice in the matter.

Sunny hasn't visited his friends during the 6 months after moving away from Faraway. His mom finally saves up enough money for the trip, and Basil is the first of Sunny's friends to know that he's coming back in town. The others have struggled to work out their feelings about Sunny's confession to killing Mari, but now that they're together again, it gets easier to accept the truth together - and maybe even embrace it. Basil and Sunny are no longer guilty, but now Basil feels guilty for something else... something that fully manifests over the three nights that Sunny and his mom spend in Faraway. Something maybe he's just never had the time to face before. Basil just hopes that this time, he won't have to face it alone.

A post-canon Basil-centric Sunflower fic meant to explore Basil's dynamic with the other characters, how he handles his own many, many issues, and, upon Sunny's return, how they sort out their collective issues.

Sunny had moved away after he got better of course the only friend he had left was Basil, well Basil and him were always off since Mari swung so the friendship was breaking apart. Nobody forgave him or Basil not even Kel. Sunny was in his new school in a different town when he ran into none other than Basil. "sorry sunny... I uh didn't know you moved here haha.." Basil let out an awkward forced laugh playing with the pants sides. "...." sunny didn't say anything as usual.

Mari never died on the day of the accident. Basil had called for help, and she was left in a coma. All because of Sunny. This was a fact his parents struggled to come to terms with. They decided they no longer wanted to continue taking care of him, and forfeited all parental rights, leaving Sunny to bounce around in the foster care system. His friends have no idea where he is and no method of contacting him. The group was left to cope with the loss of 2 dear friends, though neither of them died. Was it really so unrealistic to think they'd see Sunny again one day? Or to think that Mari would ever wake up? -Cross posted from Ao3-

Sunny moved with his mother to a far off town after Mari died, and got into some trouble with a boy named Nik. He has to live with his dad though, and reconnects with some old friends. The name Trees comes from the 3 songs by the band McCafferty. I don't support any of their actions but love their music, and it fits with the vibe. All the titles will be McCafferty song lyrics. Art by Rinjkk on Reddit, will most likely update with my own art later.
