20 year old Sophia was growing sick of her 9-5 job in a call center, the same routine, same people and same sights every single day. So when offered a job touring with her cousins friend band selling merch she jumped at the opportunity. How hard could it be exactly? Touring with a band, selling some merch and the added bonus of free travel around the world. But whilst on tour she grows incredibly close to the band, but will previous experiences prevent her from being her true self around the boys?

Dan is playing a superhero for a new movie. It might come to a shock to the system for old Bastille fans, but he's genuinely happy acting instead of singing. Everyone wishes him well...except for the ones who don't. They're people who think the worst of him because of a past tragedy. After all, the man with many talents, is very familiar with heroes and villains in his own life. This superhero flick called 'Illusion' suits Dan better than his characters suit!

Pain impales my chest as I hear him yell my name . He promises me we can work it out . He begs me to come back . I walk faster . He doesn't come after me as I turn the corner out of his sight and out of his life . He didn't follow because I asked him not to , I only wish he could read between the lines and see the great 'I love you' that my tears spell out to him , as I get back into the cigarette smoke filled car and I'm driven away from the only love I've really ever known . ' it had to be done ' he says lighting up another cigarette . ' no - not like this ' I whisper ' girls like you - they don't mix with guys like him - ' ' you mean the papers don't pay for girls like me ' I interrupt him through gritted teeth . ' I'm glad you understand ' he says with a bitter smile . I bite my tongue and refuse to lash out on him . It's done now and he'll never speak to me again . There's no point in being angry - I don't have the energy to be . He was my only energy . My everything .

Dan and Zadie were once thought to be the 'perfect' couple. They were pretty much inseparable...or so Dan thinks at the start of the novel. But things turn from sweet to bittersweet within a short period of time...especially when Zadie is found dead by Dan just after her hen weekend. After her murder, it's up to Dan to solve her death himself, along with a beautiful detective. As he falls down the dark wormhole of the investigation he uncovers some terrible home truths about his bride-to-be. Through Zadie's webbed lies and frequent disappearances, he realises that his fiancée wasn't the perfect person he made her out to be, which destroys him more.
