I guess I thought we were untouchable, the kind of people that couldn't be affected by the small things in life. It was now I realized, we weren't special we were just as much at risk as all of the others that have graced our path. It was now that I realized this, us standing side by side in an abandoned parking lot in front of a old, dilapidated motel. I didn't know how we got here or even why we were in this part of town, all I knew was that there was something odd about this place. Something that was warning us not to cross the boundary, something that was telling us, specifically, to turn around and leave on the long journey home. I was never known for listening.
