David is troubled to his core with guilt, and the story chronicles the events surrounding his admission of his sin to Bathsheba. David is shown as a tortured, fallen, man who longs for the return of God's favor. Bathsheba has suspected David's role, but could not believe the truth until confronted by her King. David's ultimate forgiveness by God parallels our forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ.
