In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. Instead of Kara's pod getting knocked off course, it was Ka-el's. Kara came to earth 10 years before her cousin, and was found in Gotham Bay by Alfred Pennyworth. She grew up beside Bruce Wayne. How would this change the story? Could she save Rachel? Could she save Harvy? Would she be the one to finally slap Bruce awake from his pity party?

A Batman x Supergirl fanfic. Kara Danvers wants to follow in her cousin's footsteps and become a superhero. However, she's up to a rocky start, and the leader of the Justice League, Batman, isn't particularly fond of her. Kara desperately wants to join the team, so she sets out to follow and learn from the different heroes. Bruce Wayne wants nothing more than a full night's rest, but this seems impossible when balancing his superhero duties with the responsibilities of a wealthy heir. And it certainly doesn't help that Clark's cousin has been tagging along on their missions like a lost puppy, causing more harm than good. He reluctantly agrees to train her, in the hopes of scaring her off the superhero life. Meanwhile, Kara is investigating a case for the newspaper she's interning at, that might be closely linked to a secret case Batman has been working on. As both their personal and superhero paths start crossing, they find themselves tangled in something far greater than they could have imagined.
