She felt several stares traveling over the scar running from her left temple to her jawbone and shuddered as they came to rest on the mark beneath her jawbone. She is a Guardian, a dragon keeper, and she was responsible for Smaug's escape from his chains and the fall of Erebor. Raine joins the Company upon Gandalf the Grey's insistance that she would find redemption, but then the Dwarves find out about her past. Will they be as forgiving and understanding as the wandering Wizard is? Or will the bonds she formed with them overcome her past? But more importantly, will Thorin forgive her for damning his people? Maybe he'll allow Smaug one small victory before they reclaim Erebor... I went to some amazing places in my dreams.
