Entire buildings have been levelled by humongous flying serpentine ships piloted by these creatures, and smaller one manned ships patrol the streets. Melanie is caught up in all of this. At 17 she returns back to California to take over Stark Industries after her father went missing. When he returns three months later she leaves again. Three years later, at the age of 21, She returns to New York at the request of old friends and colleagues, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, and Nick Fury, to join the new team, named Avengers, along with her father.
