The long road traveled is the road a traveler learns the most. Kenshin Himura suddenly disappears from the Kamiya dojo, leaving Kaoru Kamiya alone. Feeling abandoned, Kaoru discovers another way to get him back. She travels on a journey to help herself find the closure she needs to become Kenshin's equal.

Himura Kenshin thinks that Battousai is forever gone, locked away in his fragile mind. This bloodthirsty side of himself is far from it. "To never spill a drop of blood again" is the oath he made to himself when he put down his sword and became a wanderer. However, that promise would soon be broken, along with his "nearly harmless" reverse-blade sword. Kenshin was part of something bigger when he was a murderer. His old colleagues are catching up with him, and danger surrounds them. Kaoru, Sanosuke, Yahiko, and Megumi can try, but they may not succeed in destroying the Battousai and get Kenshin back to himself before his past swallows him again. It's something Kenshin may not even be able to do.

My love for Nobuhiro Watsuki's famous manga and the adapted anime series 'Rurouni Kenshin' really know no bounds. It is and perhaps will always be amongst my favorite artistic works, so it is rather unsurprising that when I began writing poetry, the thought occurred to me to immortalize the story I so loved in epic form. This poem is my re-telling of the Kyoto revolution arc of the story, when Kenshin Himura earned his title as a Hitokiri Battousai. Any fans of this anime series in any of its incarnations will surely enjoy this read, so please take a look! :)

This story takes it's place in the Meiji Era, an Era where civilians of Japan have finally found peace in their country. After the Revolution of 1864 in Kyoto, unfamous Ex-Hitokiri Battōusai, Kenshin Himura, wanders the streets of Hokkaido with his now reversed blade on his hip, and an intention of protecting the country's citizens. The 22 year old wanderer saunters down the streets with no home, no food or water, and certainly no people he could call his 'Comrades'. As the days turn windy, Kenshin has no choice but to take shelter under a bridge near an old household. But considering the circumstances, he could not help but thank the people who decide to help the Rurouni who was desperately in need, and invite him into their home with much love. ---- A/n Hello Wattpaders! Mei-Shen reporting for duty with yet ANOTHER RK Fanfiction! I am proud to announce that this story was inspired by the Anime itself, though I have my tiny little twist on it! As you can clearly see, this took place in Kenshin's early years of wandering, meaning he has not yet met Kaoru Kamiya and the rest of the gang. Arashi Himura, the younger brother of Kenshin Himura, is a samurai like his older brother, but as they get discharged from the war, they roam from town to town on a boat, looking to find solitude and make a life they never got to live. While traveling through a village in Kyoto, the two meet a girl named Kaoru Kamiya, who happened to live just in the village, thinking they could finally escape the harsh reality of the world. When they finally got there, they would help out Kaoru with her deceased father's dojo, and live the life they want to have, but Arashi would meet another girl named Megumi Takani, unknown to him was the enemy's prisoner, wanting a way out of their grasp. Megumi, taking a liking to Arashi the first time she sees him, starts to trust him and confess to Arashi about her past with them and over time, Takani actually starts to fall for Himura. The question is, do they start to see each other as more than friends?
