1874, in the town of St. Marblelee, Louisiana, Alma Laveau is the sheltered daughter of a powerful Voodoo Queen. Not as talented or powerful as her mother, however, Alma learns as she goes. The old Scottish folktales often warn not to go into the water, but what if it wasn't a choice? what if, you just felt drawn towards the water by something? Would you go into the water, or would you run as far and as fast as you could go? These are questions that I found myself asking myself in a lonely Louisiana bayou.
