A multi-narrative story that follows the lives of the Private Molly Dawes and her lover and boss Captain Benjamin James. As Molly keeps vigil by her injured Captain's bedside she encounters Lieutenant Philippa James, someone who is closer to the Captain than Molly had ever imagined and harbours a past with the platoon that leaves many hearts broken.

Clara Oswald wanted to go somewhere nice. She wanted to go somewhere safe. So The Doctor offers to take her to the planet Avalon, the most peaceful planet in the universe- or at least it was. The Doctor and Clara are surprised to find that Avalon and its most powerful city, Magura, are being controlled by a company known only as "The Network". Tensions are running high in the city as The Resistance prepares to attack Magura's seven power plants after citizens start to go missing but what concerns The Doctor and Clara the most is that The Network is owned by someone with a very familiar face and name: Clara Oswald.
