Here lays a short story based on a question one teenager asks to a friend, one that no one should ever have to ask. *********************************************************** When I was small I was told that everyone was worth of being heard, of having the benefit of the doubt, that I would at some point in life face situations when I would truthfully be distrust but all I had to do was tell the truth, after all The truth shall set you free. Here is one of the questions I've tried to answer but I've yet to find an answer.

A forbidden fruit in a forbidden city. This is a story of an overachieving Kenyan girl who is born in a painful experience, forced to live where no one of her kind lives. Through pain and revenge she catches the attention of a hunky guy.

Sometimes people can feel sad and down in despair, with seemingly no hope or light to illuminate their path. I was told once that sometimes we go through experiences, not necessarily to make us stronger, but so that someday we could tell the tale to someone else. With that in mind, it is my hope Dear Readers, that perhaps some of you can find these ramblings as a comfort and a delight, dark and sad as they may be. Know that as you read them, sometimes it is you that must be your own lantern, lighting the path for someone else to soon traverse. Please enjoy, these pieces from a stormy night.

*My thoughts were updated five years later! I'm black. That's what I know. It's a truth that I cannot deny. The color of my skin is a fact, yet it has taken me a long time to figure out what it means to be black, and I still am. To learn what to think about being black. To learn what to think about those days where I may feel ashamed of being black, but days when I am proud of being black. To learn on how to figure out who I am and how being black ties into that. These are my conversations. Conversations that have to do with me figuring out what exactly the color of my skin means. Conversations with family and friends just about being black and what it means to me, what I learned from it, and what I think about it. *Remember these are my own thoughts and experiences, so they may not apply to everyone, and please don't be harsh if they do.
