Beleg Stories

A prose re-telling of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lay of Leithian, this relates the full story of the love and labors of Beren and Luthien in the First Age of Middle-earth. This is aimed primarily at Tolkien fans who want the full story but who do not want to read the original Lay. I have tried to keep my own intrusions to the minimum necessary in order to keep the story moving, and I have also tried to capture both the style and spirit of the original Lay in prose form as much as possible. I have used other sources, most notably The History of Middle-earth book series, for where the Lay ends uncompleted. This manuscript was originally completed in 1997, revised considerably in 2009, and is returning to the Internet in 2017 after an eight-year hiatus. It is my gift to Tolkien fandom. No infringement intended and implied (and all that), and I hope it remains both free and freely available to all from now on.

A ballad I wrote imagining the parting of Turin Turambar and Beleg Cuthalion during the events of the Silmarillion when Turin runs away from Doriath and Beleg is sent to find him. Just what was going through their minds when they were separated? This song was written as part of my story 'In Shadows', but won't appear in it for several more chapters. My first attempt at ever writing a song! I am currently in the process of creating the music for it.

Calaniel is great with horses but not so bright in kitchens (unless you're talking about the fires she starts, those are pretty bright). A disaster with legs, sometimes actually six (but whatever), and troublemaker extraordinaire, it's this girl and none other who gets sent to the West Marches to make a delivery of food and supplies.

This is the story of how Thranduil met his moose, Beleg which means- Mighty in elven. Please no, that I do not own any rights to tolkiens books or the movies, I also made up this story though. Hope you enjoy!
