"Your Highness," he said, his voice steady but laced with something else-caution, perhaps.
Hyunji took a step forward, her gaze never leaving him. "Who are you?"
The boy did not look up. "No one of importance, my lady."
A lie. A careful one.
Hyunji's eyes flickered to the sack at his feet. Had he stolen something? Was he a poacher?
"You should not be here," she said, her tone measured.
"And yet, neither should you, my lady," he replied.
Hyunji's brows lifted slightly. He was careful with his words, never overstepping-but there was something about him that was unafraid.
"Tell me your name," she commanded.
