Her father took his own life, the following day, overwhelmed at the loss of his wife, leaving behind his newborn. Pregnant council member Abby and her engineer husband Jake Griffin asked the council if they could take Skye in as their own. With no other choice, the chancellor and council granted this wish, therefore breaking the law. Some people were furious, others were more understanding.
