I've been here since my intern year. I've grown with Meredith, Cristina, Alex, George, and Izzie. I've watched that dwindle down to just Meredith, Alex and myself. Meredith followed in her mother's footsteps as a general surgeon, Alex found himself falling in love with pediatric surgery, and I followed my mentor, Callie Torres, in becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Right now, I'm head of the department. Three and a half years ago, Meredith's husband, Derek, was hit by a semi and was pronounced brain dead. I was the one to tell his sister that he was dead and I felt myself slowly falling for the neurosurgeon that I knew would never love me back. STARTED 10/18/21
