Rosa's jaarlijkse reis met haar ouders begint met een nachtmerrie. Maar als het allemaal fout lijkt te gaan blijkt er Iemand te zijn die op de voorgrond treedt. Die niet voor niets: 'de Bewaarder Israëls' genoemd wordt. Hun reis mag dan beginnen als een nachtmerrie maar eindigt in ware verootmoediging en dankbaarheid naar Hem toe. (Verootmoediging mag je hier zien in de positieve zin; Ze mogen een nederige houding aannemen tot Diegene die hen gered, bewaard en gespaard heeft. Een tegenstelling tot zichzelf verhogen. )
